L.A.’s fuel to get through the day is coffee, and lots of it. But where can you find a great cup with just the right atmosphere? Here are six essential coffee bars to keep you caffeinated.

8428 Melrose Place, Los Angeles

Order: A Vanilla or Matcha Latte.
WiFi:  Slow.
Parking: Difficult. Your time is valuable. Valet.
Accommodations: One seating area in the front, one in the back, and one out front so you can watch the Rolls-Royces drive by.
Vibe:  Hipsters outside. Loud music inside.
Did You Know: There’s also an Alfred Tea Room down the street?

Order: A Pour Over and a Purple Egg Pot.
WiFi: Super fast so bring your laptop, too!
Parking: Only two parking spots in front but ample, two-hour residential street parking. Don’t forget to read the signs!
Accommodations: Lots of space in this industrial warehouse, including a conference room and high ceilings.
Vibe: Mix of production and tech folk that you can actually strike up a conversation with.
Did You Know: Baristas use the shop’s high-tech Modbar system with Chemex coffeemakers to serve you the perfect cup of joe?

Order: A New Orleans-Style Iced Coffee.
WiFi: Nope.
Parking:  Metered parking on Beverly aplenty.
Accommodations: The upstairs loft makes for a great workspace.
Vibe: A composed bustle of upscale suits and hip, street-style aficionados.
Did You Know: The Arts District location offers roastery tours on Saturdays?

WiFi: Sorry, Charlie.
Parking: Free and convenient, and right in front.
Accommodations: Your choice: Inside or soak up some rays on the back patio.
Vibe: The Italian-influenced shop aesthetically transforms you to a café in Europe.
Did You Know: The baristas have to complete an extensive apprenticeship-training program for six to twelve months before they can call themselves professional baristas?

Parking: Challenging, but that’s what valet is for.
Accommodations:  Indoor tables are sparse, but the outdoor patio is where it’s at.
Vibe: After Entourage put Urth on the map, it has remained the place to be seen. Today, you can’t walk past a table without spotting the diverse crowd taking selfies or Instagram posts.
Did You Know: Urth Caffé roasts its own heirloom, organic coffee? Heirloom coffee trees aren’t genetically modified, making them a rarity.

Vibe: Bohemian.
